Tigers handed tough League start
Kildrum Tigers have been handed a tough start to their Ulster Senior League season, as they have back-to-back away games against Fanad United and Champions Cockhill Celtic in the opening three weekends.
Raymond McDaid’s team take on Convoy Arsenal at home on the first weekend of the new League season, on April 24th,with two stern away games at Fanad (May 1st) and Donal O’Brien’s title holders Cockhill (May 22nd) following.
It doesn’t get much easier for Kildrum, who have old rivals Letterkenny Rovers and John Quigg’s young Derry team in their next two games, meaning they play four of the top sides from last year inside the first handful of fixtures.
In the Donegal News sponsored League Cup, meanwhile, Kildrum have been drawn in a tough three-team Group C along with Letterkenny Rovers and Bonagee United.
The first League Cup game sees Kildrum play Peter Moran’s Bonagee away on April 17th, with a home tie against Rovers following.
The draw for the Knockalla Caravans Senior Cup – a competition Kildrum won last year, following the decision of the Ulster FA to award us the Cup following Derry’s refusal to play on the appointed date – has not been made, but Sunday April 10th will be the season opener in that competition.
The fixtures for the Reserves have not yet been circulated.

Kildrum Tigers 5
Dungloe Town 1
MICKEY Duffy netted a hat-trick as Kildrum Tigers comfortably overcame Dungloe Town in this Champions League group game in perfect conditions in St Johnston yesterday.
It’s the Tigers’ second win in the group after overcoming Eany Celtic on the first day out and means that they qualify for the semi finals of a competition they won last year.
They swept ahead yesterday through striker Gerard McGaughey on 10 minutes, while it was two-nil when Duffy fired home past the helpless ‘keeper. Duffy was on song and he made it three-nil with an expert finish, before Darragh Hanlon managed to pull one back for the visitors.
After the break, Padraig Doherty slotted home to make it 4-1 and it was game, set and match Kildrum when Man of the Match Duffy took the match ball by riffling home his third in style.
Kildrum: Marty Mongan; Jason McKinney, Colm Paul Robb, David Friel, Shane Porter; Stephen Keys, Mickey Duffy, Padraig Doherty, John Fullerton; Willie Gillespie, Gerard McGaughey.
Referee: Marty McGarrigle
